SANS Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force
SANS has created a task force focused on creating a measurable difference in the diversity of the cybersecurity industry. Our vision is to ensure that the growth in the industry is rooted in a culture of inclusion and belonging. We are a work-in-progress, looking at short- and long- term actions we can take to commit to meaningful change. Here are a few initiatives we are working on:
Updating our Courseware Style Guide - Terms like Blacklist and Whitelist (among many others) will be removed from all SANS courseware and replaced with more appropriate terminology.
Consciously Representing Diversity in Speaking Events & Instructor Development - We are dedicated to better representing the overall community and striving to see more diversity in the industry. We are actively seeking additional talent from traditionally underrepresented groups in the cybersecurity industry for speaking events and our instructor pool.
SANS - ICMCP: Diversity Cyber Academy (DCA) - SANS and International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals (ICMCP) are excited to announce applications for the Diversity Cyber Academy (DCA) opened on August 17, 2020. The DCA is a 100% scholarship-based diversity, equity, and inclusion program. This four-to-six-month accelerated, immersive cybersecurity training program provides eligible candidates with advanced technical training, industry-recognized GIAC certifications, and hands-on cyber defense and incident handling skills sought by employers.

At SANS we believe that there is no place for racism or discrimination in our community or industry. We stand against racism and are committed to advancing equal opportunity for all.
